Regular exercise refers to engaging in physical activity on a consistent basis, with the goal of improving overall health and fitness. This can include activities such as running, swimming, cycling, weightlifting or yoga, among others. The key is to establish a routine that incorporates some form of aerobic exercise (which increases heart rate and breathing) along with strength training exercises (which work the muscles against resistance). Regular exercise has numerous benefits including improving cardiovascular health, building stronger bones and muscles, reducing stress levels, boosting energy levels, enhancing mood, and promoting better sleep. The American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity each week for adults to maintain good health.
